About Us
In 2006, Mykal and Amanda Smith experienced something that would forever change their lives and redirect their path in ministry - attending a life-giving church in Florida. Five years later, they felt God call them to plant a life-giving church in the Newark area. After much prayer, counsel, and training from Celebration Church and The Association of Related Churches, their family moved from Florida to Delaware in late 2010 and immediately hit the ground running. The church began to formally gather inside Cinema Center in Downtown Newark - currently known as Main Street Movies 5 - and after years of leasing, the owner announced the sale of the cinema and with it, our contract.
However, our story did not end there. We learned that God had different and much greater plans in store for us! In 2017, we moved into our current location which allowed for growth in attendance, the addition of a secure and age appropriate kids' wing, and the ability to make it feel like home for our family. Today, hundreds of people have experienced True Life Church services, events and small groups, and we continue to see growth on a weekly basis. We are constantly looking forward to see what next thing God has in store for us because God is at work among True Life! We invite you to see for yourself how exciting church can be when the focus is on Jesus - the giver of abundant True Life.
